Actress Konkona Sen Sharma is set to star in ‘Nyoda’, a film based on the sensational Aarushi Talwar murder case. “I have worked under Meghna Gulzar in ‘Nyoda’ and I found the role crucial and interesting.
I worked with Irrfan Khan. This is a story handled sensitively by Meghna,” Konkona said on the sets of ‘Sajarur Kanta’, a Bengali thriller on Bomkesh Bakshi, where she plays the all important female lead.
Vishal Bhardwaj has written the script for ‘Nyoda’, but neither the cast nor the director are willing to speak about the story line which is believed to be based on the accounts of the relatives of the 14-year old girl found murdered in her room on May 16, 2008.
While Konkona, 35, and Sohum Shah play Aarushi’s parents, Tabu essays the character of Aarushi’s aunt. Irrfan Khan plays the officer investigating the case. The other film where she has acted is ‘Lipstick Waale Sapne’ directed by Prakash Jha and penned by Alankrita Shrivastava. Konkona said in the film she found the shades quite interesting in the female-dominated role with comic shades.
“I have to be choosy about roles. I am happy that directors cast me. It is the producers’ call but on my part I can’t do everything that comes my way – Hindi or Bengali,” she said. Coming to Tagorean-flavoured ‘Kadombori’ by Suman Ghosh, where she is paired opposite Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Konkona said, “This is my second on screen appearance with Param.
And we compliment each other before camera as we vibe well.” “In ‘Dosar’ I have worked with Param but that was smaller as compared to ‘Kadombori’,” Konkona said about the Suman Ghosh film based on the life of Rabin-dranath Tagore’s sister-in-law and her influence on the Bard’s life. (PTI)
