KHADC dilemma- ARPA or PDF?

SHILLONG: Nothing seems going right for the ruling ARPA in KHADC. After suffering a twin blow (resignation of PT Sawkmie and Grace Mary Kharpuri) the other day, the ruling coalition on Friday suffered another body blow when another Executive Member Hadrian Lyngdoh, (UDP MDC from Mawkyrwat) put in his papers.
Subsequently, the MDC also quit UDP giving an indication that he might join the Opposition alliance People’s Democratic Front (PDF).
Hadrian Lyngdoh submitted his resignation letters to the Chief Executive Member (CEM) Adelbert Nongrum and UDP Parliamentary Party leader Teinwell Dkhar respectively.
In a span of less than two weeks, three EMs of the ARPA resigned from their post to switch allegiance to PDF.
This latest development will boost PDF’s chances to form a new Executive Committee provided Hadrian decides to join the group. If he joins the PDF then its strength in the 30-member House will swell to 16. And ARPA is left with only 13 MDCs excluding the chairperson Teilinia Thangkhiew (HSPDP).
Meanwhile, UDP PP leader Teinwell Dkhar has confirmed Hadrian’s resignation saying he sent an ‘SMS’ in this regard.
Hadrian decision also shocked Nongrum.
He, however, claimed that his executive committee was still intact.
‘Impose anti-defection law’
As the UDP MDCs continue to resign from the  executive committee in KHADC, the UDP chief  Donkupar Roy has called for immediate imposition of anti-defection law in the  district councils.
Speaking to The Shillong Times on Friday, Roy said, “I am not happy with what is happening in the KHADC.”
“Let administrative rule be imposed in KHADC if these things go on,” an angry Roy said
Accusing the State Government of playing politics with the functioning of KHADC, Roy said that they are following their favourite policy of de-stabilizing the EC.
