SHILLONG: The lawyers of State Government, Cabinet Minister Zenith Sangma and other respondents have sought adjournment of the ST status case involving Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, scheduled for March 13 for two more weeks. However, the lawyer of Tennydard Marak, who is pursuing the case, sent a letter of objection to the Registrar of Supreme Court by saying that the matter is extremely urgent in nature and hence should not be adjourned.
While Advocate Ranjan Mukherjee, who appears in Supreme Court on behalf of the State Government sought time to file additional affidavits, two other lawyers for respondents Suchitra Chitale and Ramesh Babu sought the duration of two weeks.
However, the petitioner of the case Tennydard Marak feels that the matter should be heard on March 13 as it was delayed since July, 2014 without a single hearing.
