SHILLONG: ANVC-B has warned that the inability on the part of the Government to provide rehabilitation packages to the disbanded cadres may create rift among them.
The disbanding ceremony of ANVC and ANVC- B was held on December 15 last.
In a statement issued here on Saturday,  Fentom Sangma, the ex-political secretary, ANVC-B said that the Agreed  Text for Settlement was  not honoured in letter and spirit  by the State Government.
“Cold attitude of the political leaders is discouraging the cadres to stay on. Court summons are slapped on many senior cadres while others are apprehended on minor pretext of instilling doubt and insecurity among many”, ANVC-B said.
The ANVC-B cadres, who were enthusiastic to come to mainstream, are now disappointed with the delay and attitude of the Government, the ANVC-B said.
According to ANVC-B, none of the political leaders has showed any concern.
“During the disbanding ceremony, the religious leaders and Chief Minister spoke in tandem making big publicity but in reality nobody bothers.  The Chief Minister did not assure rehabilitation packages to the cadres during the disbanding ceremony”, ANVC- B said.
The religious leaders and other civil society groups must work for a right cause instead of turning blind eye to the reality, ANVC-B added.
Two factions of the ANVC has been disbanded within three months after they reached a settlement with the Centre and Meghalaya government last year.
