SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has made fun of ongoing drama in the KHADC saying “Everybody in the council wishes to occupy the post of CEM.”
“May be the members want to ensure that they acquire the luxury of actually achieving the top position of the KHADC,” Dr Sangma said while talking to newsmen on Monday.
The Chief Minister said: “In a matter of one year how many ECs have changed? How many CEMs have occupied the seat? How many CEMs are they still proposing?”
When asked for his opinion on having a strong anti-defection law in the Council, he said that the issue was discussed at the political level on several occasions.
He, however, added the GHADC had not witnessed any such type of defection in the past.
On Opposition allegation that the Government had orchestrated the defection, he said that the MDCs of the regional parties were expected to remain loyal to their respective parties.
