NGT ban: Violations continue

SHILLONG: Despite the NGT ban on mining and transportation of coal, truck drivers continue to transport coal with several of them being arrested of late.
In the first instance, G. Warjri, Magistrate, Khliehriat, lodged a complaint that on March 13 around 5:45 pm, he detected one coal-laden truck (ML-05J-7284) driven by Raymond Synnah at Mookhep in East Jaintia Hills transporting coal. Police arrested the driver and seized the truck.
In another incident, L.G.M. Kharmih, Magistrate, Khliehriat lodged a complaint that on March 13 around 5:45 pm, he detected two coal-laden trucks (ML-04A-8984 & ML-04-9094) driven by Meki Dkhar and Sibarius Dkhar respectively at Mookhep Petrol Pump Area. Both the drivers were arrested and the trucks seized.
C.P. Mawkon, Magistrate, Khliehriat, lodged a complaint that on March 14 around 4:30 pm, he detected three coal-laden trucks (ML-04-4644, ML-04B-1726 & ML-04C-0399) driven by Ionis Dkhar, Buhjingkyrmen Dkhar and Hame Pattong respectively at Sookilo, Sutnga in East Jaintia Hills.
On March 15 around 5 am, Police detected one coal-laden truck (ML-06-4265) driven by Plandar Wanniang at Wahriat in West Khasi Hills. Police arrested the driver and his handyman Rapborlang Wanniang and seized the truck.
