AAP slams BJP after reports of school forcing staff to enroll
New Delhi: The AAP on Wednesday slammed the BJP after reports emerged that Ryan International School was allegedly forcing its staff to enroll with the political outfit, saying these attempts is an reflection of the saffron party’s restlessness after the drubbing in the Delhi Assembly polls. The party has also demanded strict action against the school management in this regard. “The development is a matter of grave concern and raises alarm bell over forcing of one particular ideology in the society through various mediums and least of all through institutions of education which are temples to impart free and fair knowledge without discrimination. The act is akin to playing with the future of the nation by politicising education. “The incident reported from Ryan International School is part of the BJP’s design to saffronize education system in India,” a party statement said. “The true face of the BJP’s membership numbers have also been exposed and signals towards the restlessness and panic in the ranks of the party after its rout in the recent Delhi elections,” the statement added. BKU claims death of three farmers due to crop failure
Aligarh (UP): Bhartiya Kisan Union on Wednesday claimed that non-seasonal rains and inclement weather during the past three days have claimed lives of at least three farmers in the district. “Three farmers have died from shock after seeing the devastation caused to their standing crops during the past three days,” Chaudhary Harpal Singh, national president, BKU (Harpal Group) said. He estimated that the total loss of crops, mainly wheat and potato in the district “exceeds 80 per cent”. Singh said that his group has shot off a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav regarding the issue. The district authorities were “in a denial mode” and still not accepting either the volume of the loss or the “cause of death” of these farmers, he alleged. According to reports, Budh Sen (45) of Noorpur village, Badri Prasad (56) of Kharoa village and Rajendra Pal Singh (57) of Jalali town area died in the past three days. The family members of the deceased had also said that witnessing destruction of standing crops due to non-seasonal rains led to heart-attack of the three farmers. Meanwhile, District Magistrate Balkar Singh said that the farmers’ deaths were being probed and the extent of damage to crops was being assessed. (PTI)
8 Additional judges of Delhi HC elevated as Permanent Judges
New Delhi: Eight Additional Judges of the Delhi High Court have been elevated as Permanent Judges. Justice Jayant Nath, Justice Najmussahar Waziri, Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Justice Vibhu Bakhru, Justice Valluri Kameswar Rao, Justice Sunita Gupta, Justice Deepa Sharma and Justice Ved Prakash Vaish, who are Additional Judges of the Delhi High Court, have been made Judges in the same high court from the date they assume charge of their respective offices, a Law Ministry statement said. The sanctioned strength of judges of the High Court of Delhi is 29 permanent Judges and 19 Additional Judges, and now there is a shortage of four judges. (PTI)
