Agartala: Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has decided to move CBI with information and records related to fraudulent activities of Non Banking Financial Companies (NBFC) in the state in the past five years.
TPCC vice-president Ashis Saha said on Monday that Congress had opened a chit fund redressal cell headed by Retired District Judge Subhas Bhattacharjee to assist the common people who fall victim of NBFC activities and get detail information about functioning of those companies.
“In the past two months, we have come to know that so far more than Rs 200 Cr has not been paid to the depositors by NBFCs even after committed period of maturity. Kolkata based Icore and Rose Valley are top in the list followed by six other companies,” Mr Saha said.
He, however, pointed out that except Rose Valley, all others have already shut-down their business from Tripura and the state government did not have any action against them.
“In all six accused NBFCs so far had direct or indirect patronage of ruling party and the state government was either openly promoting their activities in public or deputing CPI-M cadres as their agents across the state besides, issuing licenses to them despite non-recognition of RBI and SEBI,” Mr Saha alleged.
He also pointed out that total chit-fund business is estimated to be more than Rs 2000 crore in Tripura and in none of the cases, the state government could do anything for recovery of the public fund. “We shall provide all the information including the reports and records of the association of ruling CPI-M party and its leaders with all the chit fund companies soon. We are also demanding the government to pay back the common peoples’ money, which have been collected in support of CPI-M party,” Mr Saha added. (UNI)
