SHILLONG: In a significant development, Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi has directed the State Government to re-examine its decision to impose Administrator’s Rule (AR) in KHADC.
High-Level sources on Wednesday informed that the Governor returned the file with the suggestion asking the Government to re-examine the decision.
According to sources, he (Tripathi) made this suggestion taking into account the resignation of Adelbert Nongrum as the CEM. A copy of the resignation letter was also submitted to the Governor.
“He (Governor) wanted to know if the Government can re-examine its decision in view of the resignation of Nongrum,” sources said.
When contacted, District Council Affairs Minister HDR Lyngdoh said that he was not aware of such directive from the Governor.
“I was told the Governor had returned the file,” Lyngdoh added.
On March 18 last, the Cabinet had decided to impose the AR in the Council.
