SHILLONG: North-East Congress Coordination Committee chairman DD Lapang condoled PR Kyndiah’s death terming it as a personal loss for him and the North East as a whole.
Lapang recalled how in the early sixties, as a young dynamic leader, Kyndiah contributed to the Hill State movement, through nonviolent means, under the slogan “No Hill State No Rest”, which culminated in the creation of Meghalaya.
The NECCC chairman also recollected how in the later years Kyndiah had contributed to the growth of the infant state in various capacities.
Lapang also recalled Kyndiah’s role in the development of the North-East, in his capacity as the Union Minister of DoNER and Tribal Affairs. Lapang also placed on record the contributions of Kyndiah, in the field of art, music and literature.
Rilbong Sports and Cultural Club condoles death
Meanwhile, an emergency meeting of the executive committee of Rilbong Sports and Cultural Club under the chairmanship of former legislator Manas Chaudhuri on Saturday deeply condoled the sudden demise of former MP, Late PR Kyndiah who was the chief patron of the club.
In a statement issued here, RSCC general secretary Bibhuti Chakraborty said that the meeting also recalled the long and intimate connection of Late Kyndiah with the club.
He said that during his association with the club, Kyndiah was instrumental in promotion of volleyball in Shillong during the 70’s and 80’s. “His contribution towards the organization in organizing the first ever women’s food festival of Meghalaya in the 90’s will be ever remembered by the members of the public in general and those of the club in particular,” Chakraborty added.
Condolence from FKJGP, Council of Chiefs
Meanwhile, the FKJGP offered its heartfelt condolences to the family members of Late Kyndiah.
In a statement issued here, FKJGP information secretary Eldie Newton Lyngdoh said that the federation would like to acknowledge the “contribution of Bah Ripple” in the development of the country.
Meanwhile, the Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya, (comprising of the Federation of Khasi States, Ka Dorbar Ki Khlieh Nongsynshar ka Ri Hynniewtrep, Ki Sirdarship, Ka Dorbar Ki Dolloi, and Council of Nokmas) including the other tribes of North East India, expressed deep sorrow at the sudden demise of Kyndiah who is known for his vision and efforts in the promotion of the rights of the marginalized tribes of India.
