JOWAI: A 15-year-old girl was found lying unconscious with serious injuries inside a drain at Mulum village in West Jaintia Hills on Saturday midnight.
Police sources informed that the girl’s mother lodged a complaint in this regard on Sunday morning and the victim was referred from Jowai Civil Hospital, Ialong to NEIGRIHMS for further treatment.
According to Police, the mother in her complaint stated that the girl did not return home till midnight on Saturday after she went to visit one of her aunts who is also a resident of the same village in the afternoon.
Later villagers informed that the girl was found lying unconscious in a drain in the village.
Police suspect that the girl was sexually assaulted and later abandoned near the drain.
