SHILLIONG: The State Health and Family Welfare department is all set to launch the second phase of the Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) and the department is only awaiting approval from the Centre.

Earlier, the State Health and Family Welfare department was contemplating to launch the second phase of the scheme from January this year.
The State Health and Family   Welfare department will launch the scheme as soon as it gets the nod from the Union Government, sources said.
Chief Minister Mukul Sangma  and Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek had already impressed upon the Union Government to give its nod to the scheme.
The State Government plans to cover around 7.5 lakh families under the second phase of the scheme.
Beneficiaries will be entitled to get insurance cover upto Rs.2 lakh, as the upper ceiling has been raised by Rs.40,000 from the previous maximum of Rs.1.60 lakh and more than 2500 medical packages would be included in the second phase of MHIS.
