SHILLONG: Top ANVC leaders are eyeing to join the various political parties in Garo Hills with an aim to contest the 2018 Assembly polls in the state.
The ANVC was disbanded as an organization on December 15 last year, after which they formed an organization – Chelongma Kotok Welfare Association – for the benefit of the cadres.
However, there is no plan on the part of ANVC to form a separate political party, as the top leaders intend to join other political parties.
“We are not going to form any political party due to financial and physical constrains but some of us are planning to join other political parties,” ANVC publicity secretary Arist Sangma told The Shillong Times. He, however, refused to divulge which political party he would join to fight the election in 2018.
According to Sangma, the ANVC leaders were free to join any political party.
“There was a discussion in our Council meeting on whether to join the political parties in State. The decision was left to the individuals as they are free to choose the political parties they want to join,” Sangma said.
He, however, added that there was no direction to join a single political party.
