Srinagar: A gunbattle broke out between militants and security forces in Tangmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district today.
Acting on a tip off about presence of militants in Kunzer village, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area, a police official said.
He said a gun battle broke out when militants opened firing on the security forces, who retaliated.
No casualties have been reported in the incident so far, the official said, adding intermittent exchange of firing was going on between the two sides.wo security personnel killed in encounter in Baramulla .
Two security personnel were killed and a civilian was injured in an encounter with militants in Tangmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday. Acting on a tip off about the presence of militants in Kunzer village, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area, a police official said.
He said a gun battle broke out when militants opened firing on the security forces, who retaliated. One policeman was killed in the encounter while an army jawan who was injured also succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, the official said, adding, a civilian has been injured.
The target house has been cordoned off and a fierce exchange of firing is going on with the holed up militants who are believed to be at least two in number, the official said. (PTI)
