SHILLONG: The three-day annual celebration of Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong commenced at the Mission’s Laitumkhrah campus on Friday.
Assistant Secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, Swami Bodhasaranandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong, Swami Achyuteshanandaji Maharaj and former legislator, Manas Chaudhuri were among those present at the inaugural function of the event.
Addressing the gathering Chaudhuri stressed on Swami Vivekananda’s idea of character building of the Nation. Pointing out the contrast between the Hinduism of Swamiji to the modern concept of Hinduism, he said that the founder of Ramakrishna Mission, Swami Vivekananda never wanted a ‘Hindu Rashtra’, rather what he wanted was Vedantic brain with Islamic body.
Swami Bodhasarananda urged to see Swami Vivekananda through the eyes of his Guru, Sri Ramakrishna – the 19th century prophet.
He said, there are three ways to discover Vivekananda, firstly by reading his life and teachings, secondly through mankind and finally through meditation on him.
The day ended with bhajans by Shakti Chatterjee of Kolkata and vocal classical music by Swami Kripakaranandaji Maharaj from Ramakrishna Mission, Mumbai.
On Saturday, Prof BM Jyrwa, Department of Physics, NEHU; secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Cherrapunjee, Swami Anuragananda and Swami Bodhasaranandaji Maharaj gave inspirational insights into the life and teachings of the Holy Mother.
Sunday will be dedicated to Revered Swami Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.
