SHILLONG: There has been a decline in crime against property in the localities of the city where CCTV cameras have been installed.
Informing this here on Wednesday, SP City, Vivek Syiem said that the city police is also being able to detect and identify miscreants with the help of the CCTV cameras.
It may be mentioned that the CCTV cameras have been installed in 30 locations of the city under the Safe Secure Shillong project.
Meanwhile, Syiem denied media reports that a CCTV camera has gone missing from Iew Mawlong.
He informed that the camera was removed by police after a vehicle hit and damaged the pole in which it was installed.
“The pole needs to be replaced and order has been placed with the firm which had earlier supplied the poles. Since the entire process was taking time, the cameras were removed by Police and kept in safe custody,” he said.
