SHILLONG: Two stunning strikes by him proved to be the difference on two occasions for his side which earned vital points riding on his efforts.
Godwin Franco struck from nowhere against Bengaluru FC in a Hero I-League match to make it 2-1 (the match ended 3-3) for Royal Wahingdoh FC at a crucial time while his scorcher of a shot against East Bengal proved to be match winning.
Talking to The Shillong Times on Friday, the humble Wahingdoh midfielder thanked God for the conversions and admitted that on both occasions it was instinct more than anything else that drove him to “go for the kill”.
The 30-year-old is known for his powerful long range shots and his performance at home against East Bengal and later against Bengaluru in an away game only went to prove his mettle further.
The deep lying playmaker who has proved to be an asset for the Royals in the last few games believes that his side has performed very well in the Hero I-League so far and also brought to fore a lot of hidden talents. Asked about the debutant Shillong team’s chances of winning the title this season, Franco said the boys were focusing on one match at a time and were looking to take the challenge “step by step”.
