GUWAHATI: Body of a maid servant who was employed by the family of an Army doctor working on deputation in Five Air Force Hospital in Rowriah base of Indian Air Force in Jorhat in eastern Assam was recovered from a servant quarter of the Block 335/5 of the IAF base on Thursday by police.
The deceased was identified as one Moonmoon Saikia (25) who hails from Titabor sub-division in Jorhat district. She used to be accommodated at one of the servant quarters at the ground floor of Block 335/5 of the IAF base while her employer’s family stays upstairs.
Police said the body was sent for post mortem and a case had been registered in the local police station. A senior police official informed that the body was found with a cut mark on the left side of the neck and a pillow over her mouth. She had last reported for work in the morning hours of Monday. Since then she had remained absent from her work at the doctor’s quarter.
Her aunt, one Arati Gogoi, who also works as maid in some other residences in the IAF base, came looking for her on Thursday morning in her servant quarter which she found locked with a foul smell emanating from it.
Arati then informed the wife of the doctor who used to employ the deceased. They then broke into the servant quarter and found the body and informed the officer in-charge of local Rowriah police station. No one has been arrested so far in this connection.
