‘Male members seek enjoyment, entertainment’

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Zenith M Sangma has termed the Youth Congress to be too demanding as compared to the Mahila Congress.
“During my election campaigns I had found that the Mahila Congress were not as demanding as compared to the Youth Congress members. The Youth Congress always seek enjoyment and entertainment which sometimes becomes an expensive affair,” Sangma, a former president of Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress, said while speaking during the recent Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress convention in the city.
Continuing to praise the Mahila Congress members, the Rangsakona legislator said, “It is easier to work with members of the Mahila Congress since they are more sincere and committed.
“I would not hesitate in saying that I had managed to win the Assembly election due to the hard work of the Mahila Congress members of the Block Congress Committee of my constituency,” he said.
Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh termed the Mahila Congress as the silent workers who contribute tremendously to the victory of the party in any election.
“Even in my own constituency I have seen how women party workers would work tirelessly for me during the elections. It is sad that the Mahila Congress especially at the grass roots level have never received necessary recognition for the efforts they have put in to ensure the success of the party,” Ampareen said, while demanding equal treatment for Mahila Congress members as compared to the male members of the party.
