Earthquake jolts Northeast India yet again

Guwahati:  Four earthquake of low magnitude jolted parts of the Northeast eastern India and adjoining countries on Tuesday between 12:38 pm to 1:07 pm, which are stated to be associated with the mega earthquake that again rocked Nepal on Tuesday.
The powerful earthquake measured 7.3 on the Richter scale.
People working inside multi-storeyed office complexes and business establishments in densely populated areas in Guwahati city like the G S Road, Fancy Bazar rushed out after they had felt the tremors while children in schools came out on the open space inside schools.
Senior seismologist, Dr Ranju Duarah from North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) informed that tremors were felt in Assam and other parts of the country as a result of the high-magnitude earthquake that rocked Nepal at around 12-35 P.M. on Tuesday.
Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) authorities stopped movements of all trains in Alipurduar division in North Bengal in the wake of earthquake for about 30 minutes.
NFR spokesman Nripen Bhattacharjya said that all traine was stopped in Alipurduar Division to carry out a quick check of the tracks which might have been affected by the earthquake tremors.
There was no report of major damage to property or loss of life due to the earthquake in the N-E states barring Sikkim where the intensity of the quake was much higher.
