Setting up of entry, exit points in Ri Bhoi

NONGPOH: The pro ILP pressure groups on Monday threatened to embark on an agitation to protest the non setting up of entry and exit points in Ri Bhoi district and other parts of the State.
Following a meeting with Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Pooja Pandey on Monday afternoon, KSU central body chief, Daniel Khyriem, FKJGP chief, Joe Marwein and HNYF president, GH Kharshanlor along with leaders of the 13 pro-ILP pressure groups said that they may resort to agitation at any point of time if they find the government lagging behind in the work of setting up of entry and exit points in the State.
The pressure group leaders had called on Pandey to discuss the matter.
“The government has failed to set up entry and exit points in the State, especially in Ri Bhoi district that connects other states of Northeastern region, as agreed in the new strategy to check influx on 2013,” KSU leader Khyriem said.
“The incompetence of the Border Security Force (BSF) is reflected by the easy entry of former Bangladesh Minister ( Salahuddin Ahmed) to the country. This should serve as a wakeup call to all concerned thus making the entry and exit point a need of the hour,” Khyriem said. Meanwhile, Pandey maintained that, the land acquisition is under process for setting up entry and exit points at Byrnihat.
