Sukhoi-30 aircraft crashes, pilots safe

Guwahati: A Sukhoi-30 fighter aircraft of Indian Air Force on crashed near at Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary in Nagaon district of Assam at around 1 p.m on Tuesday with both the pilot and co-pilot ejecting to safety. A Defence spokesman in Tezpur informed the Su-30 fighter aircraft was flying from Tezpur’s Salanibari Air Force base on a routine sortie, lost connection with the radar at the air force station at around 12.30 pm and crashed thereafter. The aircraft had developed a technical problem and the pilot was forced to abandon the aircraft. Both the pilots had ejected safe before the aircraft crashed. An inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.
