Barcelona: FC Barcelona coach Luis Enrique has explained that he has yet to meet with the club’s technical committee to discuss his position for next season, pointing out that such plans can wait.
The Spaniard on Friday gave no real indication about his future with the club, although on Thursday the club president Josep Maria Bartomeu remarked that he was convinced of Enrique staying on the sidelines, reports Efe.
In the press conference held on the eve of Barcelona’s last La Liga game against Deportivo La Coruna, Enrique was asked whether or not he started making plans with the sports committee about next season. He replied that he’d rather focus on the two upcoming finals than think about what happens later.
In the meantime, Enrique will face two crucial weeks as Barcelona try to win the treble: already securing La Liga title, qualifying to the Copa Del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao, as well as Champions League final against Juventus, something the coach could only have dreamed to achieve when he signed his contract last year.
Enrique described the season as an “intense” one that was pursued by the team as a united front, despite consistent reports throughout the season questioning his relationship with some of the players.
“I’ve seen unity in the dressing room since the beginning of the season,” he assured.
Saturday’s game against Deportivo is a forgone conclusion, as the Blaugrana has already secured La Liga title with 93 points; however, in the coach’s opinion, it will help players prepare for the Copa Del Rey final on May 30 at the Camp Nou stadium.
