Jackichand named Best Player of the Season

SHILLONG: Royal Wahingdoh’s Jackichand Singh was on Sunday named the Best Player of the Season (Hero I-League 2014-15).  With three “hero of the match” performances under his name, Jacki was the driving force for the Royals who finished third in their debut I-League season.
The youngster beautifully teamed up with the likes of Seityasen Singh, Kim Song Yong, Bekay Bawar, Densill Theobald, Lallawnzuala and Lalchawnkima to name a few, to deliver throughout the season for the Northeast side.
Meanwhile, Mohun Bagan’s Sanjoy Sen came away as the Best Coach of the Season for leading his side to the summit. Sen had taken over the Mariners after Subhash Bhowmick was fired from his position as ‘Technical Director’ just before the Federation Cup.
Defender Bello Rasaq bagged both the man of the match of the final and Best Defender of the Season award.
Shillong lad Eugeneson Lyngdoh who finished the season with six goals was awarded the Best Midfielder of the Season.
In spite of East Bengal finishing fourth, Ranti Martins had another great goal scoring season, scoring 17 goals for the Red and Gold brigade and he picked up the Best Forward of the Season along with the accolade for the Top Goalscorer of the Season. Cornell Glen of Shillong Lajong FC was the only player close to him with 16 goals.
