Transport Minister flags off ten vehicles under MRPTS

Shillong: State Transport Minister, HDR Lyngdoh flagged off six Tata Winger vehicles under Meghalaya Rural Public Transport Service (MRPTS) scheme for the people of East Khasi Hills District at a function held at State Central Library premises, in the city on Friday.
The programme was also attended by KC Khyriem, Parliamentary Secretary of Tourism, MDCs D Wahlang, J Tynsong and L Blah, additional chief secretary in-charge, Transport department and other dignitaries of District Administration and the Transport department.
In Nonpoh, Lyngdoh flagged off four vehicles under Meghalaya Rural Public Transport Service Scheme for the people of Ri Bhoi District at District Transport Office, Nongpoh premises on Friday. He also informed that these four vehicles that have been allotted for Ri Bhoi District will be running in four different routes; Patharkhmah to Shillong, Nongpoh- Umshaken road, Mawlasnai to Shillong and Mawbsein to Shillong.
Addressing the gathering before flagging off the vehicles, Lyngdoh said that these vehicles will ply in remote routes to ensure better connectivity and comfortable public transport facility. It may be mentioned that the Transport Department has procured 71 Tata Winger Vehicles for the whole State at a total cost of Rs 4, 99,05,900 in March, 2013.
