Police arrest three for looting cash

SHILLONG: Police have arrested three persons for looting three mobile phones and Rs, 18,000 cash from three persons in Mawlai.
East Khasi Hills SP, M Kharkrang said that the incident occurred on August 26 when Md. Mohibur Rahman, Mahibur Rahman and Rafikul Ali traveling in a Mahindra Pickup (AS02-AC-0726) were tricked by a person who told them that they could buy some vegetables from Mawiong.
On reaching Mawlai, the miscreant led them to Lynti Rim where a group of six youths waylaid them and took away their mobile phones and cash Rs 18,000.
Police on Wednesday arrested three persons, Lamphrang Rani (21), Mahadev Chettri (38) and Ricky Pyrbot for their involvement in the crime.  Two mobile phones belonging to the victims were recovered from their possession. Police are now looking for the other accused.
