SHILLONG: The first phase of Bihar elections on October 12, which coincides with the GHADC polls, has raised security concerns since the Centre has sought the withdrawal of Central para-military forces presently deployed in the State.
While GHADC polls will be held on October 12, the date of counting has been scheduled for October 15.
A Home department official on Thursday said that the Centre had sought the withdrawal of six companies of Indian Reserve Battalion and central para-military forces currently posted in the State.
“Following the request, we have conveyed to the Centre our concerns since more security personnel are required for the GHADC polls considering the vulnerability of the militancy-infested area”, the official added.
Cong names delayed
: The MPCC meeting held on Thursday night at the residence of  party president DD Lapang could not release the names of the candidates for GHADC polls as the discussion remained inconclusive.
The Chief Minister arrived late for the meeting and no decision was taken, a party source said , adding that the names of the candidates will be released in Tura shortly.)
