Awareness campaign on career in armed forces held

Shillong: As part of the Chief Minister’s Career Guidance Scheme, a daylong awareness campaign to motivate youngsters to join the Defence forces was held on Monday at Multi Facility Centre, Sohiong.
The campaign was organized by the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Meghalaya in collaboration with Headquarters, Eastern Air Command, Shillong.
Meghalaya Transport Minister who is also the local MLA, HDR Lyngdoh inaugurated the campaign in the presence of Brig. (Retd) WJB Sturgeon, Director of Sainik Welfare and Secretary Rajya Sainik Board and a gathering of enthusiastic youngsters from Sohiong and its surrounding areas.
Speaking on the occasion, Lyngdoh encouraged the youth of Sohiong areas to join the armed forces in order to channelize their potential in the right direction. The resource persons invited for the campaign were Brig. (Retd) W.J.B. Sturgeon, Prabhjot Kaur, Flying Officer, Indian Air Force and Junior Warrant Officer, D.P. Singh.
