Violation of building law

SHILLONG: The Megh-alaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA) on Wednesday slapped show cause notices on the spouse of South Shillong legislator Sanbor Shullai, who owns two buildings in Bishnupur area of the city, for violation of the building laws.
The show-cause notices were hurriedly pasted in the building of Raid Laban Sports, Social and Cultural Organisation and the notice which was sent to the general secretary of the Club said that the reply to the show cause should be filed before the MUDA secretary on or before October 15.
The letter further stated that the permission for building G+3 on plot number 137-B at Kench’s Trace was granted in the year 2009. However, there was a request from the owner, )  Polly Rabon, to construct another two floors which was rejected by MUDA. According to the letter, the two floors were constructed illegally.
A second show-cause notice was given to Rabon for illegal construction of three more floors in another building.
MUDA Advisor, B Dhar said that the MUDA had in August issued show cause notice and sent it through its workers but the owners refused to accept the letters. Later the show cause notice was sent through registered post but yet again the owners refused to accept the notice.
However, MUDA officials on Wednesday went and ‘hurriedly’ pasted the notice in both the buildings.  The officials of MUDA refused to talk to the media on the matter.
