One killed in mishap in W Khasi Hills

SHILLONG: A truck belonging to M/s BSC C&C JV Company knocked down one Klip Warjri (60) at Pyndengnongbri village in West Khasi Hills on Wednesday.
The victim died on the spot while the driver fled away. Police have registered a criminal case.

Youth drowned in South West Khasi Hills

SHILLONG: A 26-year-old youth was drowned in a river at Chintusora in South West Khasi Hills on Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as Pari Hajong (26).
Efforts were on to retrieve the dead body.

Couple injured in labour camp in Ri Bhoi

SHILLONG: A couple was injured when boulders fell on a labour camp at a quarry located at Maikhuli in Ri Bhoi District on Tuesday night.
The injured couple – Md. Janab Ali (55) and his wife Suratan Nasha (49) – was shifted to Guwahati Medical College, Assam.

5 trucks with fake challans detained

SHILLONG: Five trucks were detained for transporting coal with fake challans along the Shillong Bypass.
B. Mawlong, Addl. DC, East Khasi Hills, lodged a complaint that on September 15, five trucks AS-01N-4837, AS-01DC-7025, TR-02A-1545, AS-01M-0577 and AS-01BD-6395 were detained at Mawryngkneng, Shillong Bypass for transporting coal with fake challans.
