ATM frauds on the rise in Shillong

SHILLONG: Despite police advisories, people continue to get duped by ATM frauds and more such cases have been reported in the city.
A sub-inspector of CRPF, received a phone call on August 13 in which the caller identified himself as an SBI employee of Mumbai Branch and asked his ATM details.  However, on August 18, he found that Rs. 18,400 has been  debited from his account.
In another incident, K.C Mondal, a resident of Laban lodged a complaint that on September 15, a caller identified himself as an SBI employee and asked about his ATM details. Later, he found that  Rs. 49,900 has been fraudulently debited from his account.
