Ex-MP acquitted of rape charges

Guwahati:  Former Congress MP from Assam Mani Kumar Subba was today acquitted of rape charges by a local court.The Kamrup district sessions court ordered acquittal of Subba due to insufficient evidence. Subba’s lawyer said the prosecution failed to provide evidence to prove the rape accusation against the former Lok Sabha member from Tezpur, Assam. The case was filed against Subba in 2010, alleging that the victim was raped by Subba at his residence. (UNI)
