MAWKYRWAT: To mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the office of the Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills District, Mawkyrwat in collaboration with Sankur Rikynti Khain Nonglang and Mawkyrwat Hat on Thursday conducted a a cleaning drive at Mawkyrwat market and its adjoining areas.
NSS members, Green ambassadors, traders and people residing in the district participated in the drive. On the occasion, South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, R.Lyngdoh, stressed on the need to maintain cleanliness and sanitation. She also handed over mosquito nets to the butchers of Mawkyrwat market.
It may also be mentioned that the Cleaning Drive of all the offices and Dorbar Shnong will be conducted on the 2nd October in observance of Gandhi Jayanti.
