3rd Avian Biology programme in NEHU

SHILLONG:  The inaugural function of “3rd SERB School in Avian Biology” from September 27 to October 11 was held on September 30. Vice Chancellor of the North-Eastern Hill University, Prof. S. K. Srivastava was present at the occasion.
The programme was sponsored by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), a statutory body of the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.
The two weeks programme on intense capacity building was held by the Department of Zoology, NEHU, with a motive to inspire young people and researchers to devote time for research on birds.
An aspect that will be of great value in integrating biological questions with appropriate tools and techniques.
Prof. Anand S Dixit was the Coordinator of the programme.
Eminent experts from the field of Avian research will be delivering lectures and conduct practical/ hands on training to 23 trainees from 14 states of India.
These experts include avian biologists Professor Scott V. Edward (Harvard University, USA), Prof. Christopher G. Guglielmo (University of Western Ontario, Canada) and Prof. Barbara Helm (University of Glasgow, UK).
Faculty members from all over India comprising of Mysore University, University of Lucknow, CCS University, Gurukula Kangri University, National Centre for Biological Sciences, Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History, National Brain Research Centre, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research,etc will be present for the programme.
