SHILLONG: Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti has become the second BJP minister in the NDA Government to have skipped her scheduled official programme in Shillong.
Niranjan Jyoti was to be the chief guest during the North East Food Processing Conclave on Tuesday starting from 10.30 am at Hotel Polo Towers.
However, Parliamentary Secretary, Department of Horticulture, Robinus Syngkon had to replace the Union Minister of State as the chief guest. When contacted, Syngkon said on Tuesday that he did not know the reason why the Union Minister had cancelled her trip. “I was informed only late last night to prepare for the function,” he added.
Earlier in November last year, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who was scheduled to inaugurate the Shillong Passport Seva Kendra, cancelled her programme in Shillong after landing in Guwahati, compelling Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to inaugurate the Kendra.
