SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya issued show cause notices to the Jailor and the Assistant Jailor of the Shillong District jail for not forwarding the FIR filed by GNLA chairman Champion Sangma to the officer in charge of Sadar police station.
During the hearing on Friday, counsel for Champion Sangma, S. Dey submitted that his client had lodged the FIR through the Jailor as well as the Assistant Jailor of the Shillong District Jail on October 23, 2014 but the same was never forwarded to Sadar Police Station for reasons best known to the officers of the jail.
Both the Jailor and the Assistant Jailor of the Shillong District Jail were directed to show cause against the allegation made against them and also to show cause why action should not be taken against them.
The matter will come up for hearing on October 29.
Besides, bail application of Sangma will also be considered on the same day as agreed by both the counsels for the parties.
