Driver of parked truck killed

The driver of a parked truck was killed after it was hit by a moving truck at Lad Rymbai on Friday night. According to reports, a driver along with the helper of truck (AS01Y – 7537) coming from Lad Rymbai and traveling towards Guwahati, sustained injuries when the vehicle hit another truck parked on the side of the road, when the driver lost control of the vehicle. While the driver of the stationary truck died on the spot during the collision which happened at Umrangsai under Umling Block, Ri Bhoi on October 16 at 10:23 P.M, the 108 Emergency Service Ambulance helped in shifting the injured helper Biswajit Das (19) and the driver Asim Nath (23) to Nongpoh Civil Hospital.

Several injured in series of accidents

In another case, a driver of a Maruti car local taxi (ML05G- 5183) proceeding towards Lad Rymbai from Shillong sustained injuries when the vehicle was involved in a head on collision with a TATA Sumo (ML04A – 3562) coming from the opposite direction. The mishap occurred at Mawryngkneng under Mawryngkneng Block, East Khasi Hills on Saturday at 7:40 A.M. In a head on collision involving two trucks, a driver and the helper of a truck heading towards Jowai from Guwahati sustained injuries after it collided with another truck (AS01DD – 0833) proceeding towards Guwahati. The incident happened at Nongtraw under Umsning Block, Ri Bhoi District on Friday at 10:04 P.M. The driver Gango Nongrum (24) and the helper Pynskhembha Rymbai (29) were shifted to NEIGRIHMS. A pedestrian walking on the side of the road sustained injuries after he was hit by a moving vehicle near Elephants Falls junction at 7th Mile in Upper Shillong on October 16 at 8:00 P.M. The injured person Desmond Syiem (38) was shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital. While proceeding towards Byrnihat to attend the weekly market, a driver of an auto rickshaw goods carrier sustained head injuries when one of the tyres burst. Ranjit Bhowmik (48) was coming from Guwahati when the incident took place at 12th Mile in Byrnihat under Umling Block, Ri Bhoi District on Friday at 7:10 A.M. He was shifted to Guwahati Medical College. A Maruti 800 travelling towards Shillong from Nongpoh fell into a drain when the driver lost control of the vehicle at Umsamlem under Umsning Block, Ri Bhoi District. Two occupants of the vehicle fractured their left arms when the mishap occurred on Friday at 12:12 A.M. The injured Donbok Syiem (30) and Nicky Syiemlieh (19) were shifted to Umsning CHC and then to Shillong Civil Hospital. A mother along with her six-year-old son sustained injuries after they were hit by a Maruti car (ML10 – 1290) while they were walking on the side of the road near the Bellefonte junction at Shyiap in Shillong on Thursday at around 7.49 pm. The injured Olivia Mawlong (34) and her son Gregory Mawlong (6) were shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital.
