Teenage girl dies in road mishap

SHILLONG: A teenage girl succumbed to her injuries and another sustained serious injuries when a truck knocked them down on the Jorabat-Umiam Expressway at Mawtnum village in Ri Bhoi district.
Police informed that the incident happened on Monday at around 4.30 pm when a truck (AS-09C-3078) hit two pedestrians Anisha Rani (16) and Kerlari Kharshandi (18).
The two injured girls were immediately removed to Bethany Hospital, Nongpoh, from where they were referred to Shillong Civil Hospital, but Anisha Rani succumbed to her injuries on the way.
Police have begun investigation in the matter.
