Boston Marak to hold chairman’s post

TURA: Bringing an end to growing speculations about who would be heading the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), three time MDC from Williamnagar Denang T Sangma was on Wednesday elected unopposed as the Chief Executive Member (CEM).
Following brief deliberations among the members of the Garo Hills Progressive Alliance, Sangma was nominated for the post which went unopposed by both the ruling and the Opposition MDCs.
Addressing the House after his appointment, Sangma thanked all concerned for having faith in him to hold the prestigious post and sought cooperation from his colleagues in taking the Council forward.
Earlier, election to the post of the Council Chairman was also held under the supervision of the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Pravin Bakshi in which Nogorpara NPP MDC, Boston Marak went head to head against Sadhiarani M Sangma, Dengnakpara INC MDC and wife of the state minister Zenith M Sangma.
Boston Marak finally emerged victorious by defeating his opponent by a margin of just three votes. While Sadhiarani managed to garner a total of 13 votes, Boston got 16 votes.
