LAEF chairman, secy in police net

SHILLONG: With the help of Assam Police, Meghalaya police has succeed in neutralizing the Garo Hills-based militant outfit LAEF by arresting its chairman and general secretary, while three cadres surrendered.
According to a senior police official,  after the  North Garo Hills district police obtained the custody of one Kelwin Sangma and two NLFT cadres from Guwahati police on October  22 , interrogations revealed that  Kelwin was the Chairman of LAEF.
On his leading, one Sengman D Momin alias Walma, the general Secretary of LAEF was arrested the next day from Paharkata Agia.
A laptop was recovered from him from where he used to print demand notes for LAEF.
Both these high ranking LAEF cadres belong to Goalpara district of Assam.
Three surrender
Meanwhile, three cadres of LAEF  — self styled sergeant Sengrik Marak alias Rik, cadres  Rangsil Sangma  alias Nido and Kenu Marak alias Kiljang — surrendered before Superintendent of Police, North Garo Hills and Commandant, 65 GR of Red Horns Division of Indian Army on Saturday.
They also deposited one foreign-made 7.65 mm pistol, one magazine, four rounds of 7.65mm ammunition, two local country-made pistols, a Chinese grenade and five rounds of7.62 mm ammunition.
