Jorhat (Assam):  Six persons of a Delhi based ‘fake’ aviation institute were detained by police in Assam’s Jorhat district allegedly for duping youths in the name of giving them admission, police said on Saturday.
The institute charged a certain fees from the youths to take an admission test at a school in Jorhat.
Two of the candidates filed a complaint with the police alleging that they were again asked for money for the test though they had already submitted the required fees online, police said.
Police went to the school and picked up six persons who identified themselves as the faculty members of the institute which the complainants alleged was fake.
Over 900 undergraduate level students at the examination centre demanded their money back and about 150 of them were refunded in cash and with cheque, police said.
Investigation and interrogation of the six persons are on, police said adding they were awaiting information from Delhi Police on the aviation institute. (PTI)
