SHILLONG: The State Governor V Shanmuganathan has approved the list of new Executive Committee (EC) members of GHADC led by NPP on Friday.
Sources said on Saturday that following the nod given by the Governor to the list of EC submitted by the Chief Executive Member of GHADC, the EC will now nominate NPP leader Conrad Sangma for the lone vacant seat after the elections were held for 29 seats.
Sources added that following the nomination of Conrad and subsequent approval of the Governor, the nominated member will take over the leadership from the present CEM Denang T Sangma.
Earlier, the Garo Hills Progressive Alliance (GHPA) had elected Conrad as the leader, but he could not assume charge as the CEM since the rule of the Council did not permit this as a non- member cannot become CEM.
