Dual post standoff: Narayanasamy holds meet with Mukul

From CK Nayak

NEWDELHI:  With no visible solution to the stand-off  between the Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and KHADC Chief Executive Member PN Syiem for almost a month over the implementation of dual post Act without due consultations among the party legislators including Syiem, the Congress president Sonia Gandhi will take the final decision on the matter.
The Chief Minister, who is camping here, met the AICC general secretary in-charge Meghalaya V.  Narayanasamy on Saturday and discussed about the ongoing stalemate in the Government and the party over the issue of dual post Act and Village Administration Bill.
It is understood that Narayanasamy will apprise the Congress president about his series of meetings with Chief Minister and all others including Syiem in Shillong to find an amicable solution to the problem.
The KHADC CEM refused to give up his post after the dual post Bill took effect from October 1 while other seven legislators resigned from the post of MDCs.
During the one to one meeting with Narayanasamy in Shillong , Syiem conveyed to him his displeasure over the style of functioning of the Chief Minister as there was no proper consultations on the dual post Bill before its implementation.
Syiem also expressed his inability to quit the post of MDC since it would ago against the wishes of the people who elected him. Sources said that with no other option, the AICC leader has decided to brief the developments to the Congress President so that she can take an appropriate decision on the matter.
Sonia’s intervention was sought since the AICC leaders Narayanasamy and his deputy Vijay Laxmi Sadho failed to solve the issue during their recent visit to Shillong.
