Kohima: Agitated over the failure of the state government to fulfill its promise of appointing and posting 663 teachers in government schools under its jurisdiction, the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has warned that it will shut down all the schools in Eastern Nagaland and served an ultimatum of six days to fulfill their demand.
According to a statement by the ENSF, the Department of School Education had assured to appoint 161 math and science teachers, 200 primary teachers and 302 RMSA teachers in schools of Eastern Nagaland.
This assurance, the federation claimed, was agreed upon in letter and in principle by the state government in Dimapur at a meeting in 2011.
However, even after the lapse of four academic years, the teachers were yet to be given appointment orders and posted in the schools.
The federation considered was ‘injustice and discrimination meted out to the students of Eastern Nagaland.’
This only proves that the concerned Department and the state government are not serious about the welfare of the students of Eastern Nagaland.
The federation said while alleging that the department has been trying to use the policy of delay tactics which has gone beyond zenith.
The federation went on to state that its patience has run out and it can no longer wait for another academic year of the students to be compromised.
In this connection, the federation has given an ultimatum of six days from November 1 for the appointment and posting of the 161 math and science teachers, 200 primary teachers and 302 RMSA teachers as assured by the state government through Commissioner and Secretary, School Education.
In the event of failure of the state government to keep their end of the bargain, the federation said it would be compelled to shut down all the schools in Eastern Nagaland.
Which may even affect the examinations of students for which the Department of School Education will be solely held responsible.
The Federation also made clear that it will not entertain any meeting with any authority for this issue until the teachers are posted in the schools. (UNI)
