Traffic arrangements
In view of the celebration of Terra Madre Festival at Mawphlang Sacred Grooves on November 7 several routes in Mawphlang have been declared as no entry zones. Among the routes are Junction to Mawphlang Sacred Grooves towards the venue, Balat Mawphlang Junction towards Dongiew, Balat Mawph-lang road exit point towards the venue, Nongrum Junction towards the venue and Ktok Junction Catholic Church towards Dongiew.
Prohibition
The District Magistrate West Khasi Hills, Nongstoin has imposed a prohibitory order under section 144CrPc prohibiting indiscriminate dumping of garbage in public places in the entire District.
Foundation day
The Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides will celebrate the Bharat Scouts and Guides Foundation Day on November 7 at Raj Bhavan at 11:00 am. Governor V. Shanmuganathan will be the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Vigilance awareness week
As part of the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week, the West Khasi Hills district administration conducted an essay competition for students of Nongstoin on Wednesday under the topic, “Preventive vigilance as a tool for good governance”. A debate competition was also conducted on the same topic.
Demonstration
As per call of Confederation of Central Govt. Employees and Workers, New Delhi and subsequent endorsement by National Federation of Postal Employees, New Delhi the postal employees of Shillong will observe morning hour demonstration in front of Shillong GPO to protest against the Government’s attitude towards settlement of various issues relating to seventh Central Pay Commission at 9:45 am on Friday.
