Dual-post stalemate

From CK Nayak

New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi will decide the fate of KHADC chief PN Syiem, who openly rebelled against the Mukul Sangma-led government for bringing an amendment bill which forced members of the Assembly to resign as members of the district councils despite having been elected by the people, after the by-poll to Nongstoin Assembly constituency, scheduled for November 21.
According to AICC sources, V Narayanasamy, the general secretary in-charge of Meghalaya, had already submitted his report to Mrs Gandhi regarding the ongoing stalemate over the dual post issue. “The AICC chief will take a decision only after the declaration of Nongstoin result,” sources said.
Meanwhile, the MPCC chief DD Lapang held a detailed discussion with Narayanasamy on the issue here on Sunday.
Lapang, who left for Shillong on Monday morning, is expected to be summoned to the national capital after the Nongstoin  by-poll.
Mrs Gandhi decided to delay her decision since the party is facing a by-poll in the state, sources said adding that both the Chief Minister and CEM would be summoned by Mrs Gandhi and the Vice-President Rahul Gandhi to thrash out an honorable solution. The Shillong MP Vincent Pala, who openly supported Syiem, might also be called to present his point of view, it added.
