NEW DELHI: President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the 35th edition of India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2015 at Hamsadhwani Theatre, Pragati Maidan here on Saturday.
The fortnight long fair is organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), Government of India every year from November 14 to 27 and the theme for this year’s event is ‘Make in India’.
Later, P. Sampath Kumar, Resident Commissioner, Meghalaya House, New Delhi formally inaugurated the Meghalaya Pavilion at the International Trade Fair in the presence of H. M. Shangpliang, Secretary Social Welfare Department and DIPR officers and participants from the State.
The participating departments in the Meghalaya Pavilion include Tourism, Forest, Commerce and Industries, Agriculture, Horticulture, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Sericulture and Weaving, MHHDC, MKVIB and Directorate of Information and Public Relations as the nodal Department.
Apart from Government Departments, there are also 13 entrepreneur units sponsored by various Government departments participating in the fair for promoting and showcasing the indigenous products of the State.
