Winter School
A three-week Special Winter School on the theme ‘Challenges in Higher Education and the role of ICT’, organized by the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, NEHU, Shillong, concluded recently. The programme was attended by 52 participants from various Colleges and Universities from Meghalaya, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Tripura.
Conference
The North Eastern Council, Shillong is organising a ‘Global Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction – major Initiatives in North East towards Disaster Resilience’, on Nov 23-25 at Hotel Pinewood, Shillong, in partnership with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board, National Disaster Management Authority and North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach.
Demonstration
Central Govt. employees of Shillong and Meghalaya will hold a lunch hour demonstration on November 19 at the respective work spots to protest against non fulfillment of their demands. Postal employees will hold the demonstration at Shillong GPO in the morning hours.
Condolence
Sri Sri Madhavdev Namghar Management Committee of Asom Kristi Kendra Stoneyland, Shillong, has condoled the demise of Late Joga Ram Das, who passed away on November 10. The committee prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
