Govt’s rehab package list : Several names missing

SHILLONG: All is not well with the rehabilitation package proposed for both the ANVC and ANVC B cadres as many cadres were left out from the list.
After the Centre recently okayed the rehabilitation package of Rs 1.5 lakh for each cadre, the state government has prepared a list of cadres who will be availing the package shortly.
Unhappy over the exclusion of several leaders and cadres including the former self-styled commander in chief of ANVC-B  Mukosh Marak  from the proposed  rehabilitation package approved by the Centre , the former   Chairman of  ANVC-B Rimpu Marak said that he would seek an appointment with the Chief Minister Mukul Sangma for the inclusion of the names.
There were a total of 304 cadres with ANVC-B , but only 273 turned up to finalize the names to be forwarded to the Government . Out of the 273 names, the Government has included only 193 names under rehabilitation package.
Besides the commander in chief, others who were not included in the list are political secretary, organizing secretary, general secretary and senior cadres of ANVC-B.
“We will meet the Chief Minister to discuss the matter so that the eligible names can be included”, Marak said
Bangla cadres: The former ANVC-B chief also revealed that even before the signing of peace pact, the ANVC-B leadership had taken up the issue of as many as 30 Garo militants based  in Bangladesh who were  part of  ANVC-B for the inclusion in the peace pact.
“However, the police was not inclined to include their names since they were from Bangladesh”, Marak added.
