NONGSTOIN/SHILLONG:  All arrangements have been completed for the counting of votes polled in the November 21 by-election for the Nongstoin Assembly constituency which will be taken up at 8am on Tuesday.
The District Election Officer S.Kharlyngdoh said that all preparations have been completed for the counting of votes and EVMs are kept under tight vigil.
The result is expected to be out by 11am.
The by-poll was necessitated by the demise of veteran leader Hoping Stone Lyngdoh in September.
Those in the fray are Gabriel Wahlang (Congress), Daiosstar Jyndiang (HSPDP), Independent woman candidate Fenella Lyngdoh and UDP’s Mosklandar Marngar .
Despite the harvesting season being in progress, the by-poll witnessed a high turnout of voters in every polling station, with the final turnout  being 81.96%.
